Berkeley Lab Study Raises India's Wind Potential from 102 Gigawatts to 3,121 Gigawatts

JOHANNESBURG--March 26, 2012--Written by Richard Finlayson, Senior International Editor for Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--A study has found that India has a much greater potential for wind-sourced energy than previously reported in official estimates. According to a new assessment of Indian wind energy by the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley, California), the potential is thought to be 20 to 30 times greater than the current official estimate of 102 gigawatts (GW).
