Coverage for the Oil, Gas & Liquids Terminal Industry consists of a phone verified database of 1,454 operational plants in North America with over 4,900 unique decision making contacts with over 10,000 functional management responsibilities.
Each month, IIR updates plant database information with changes that have taken place, including plant closings or new plant start ups. In 2001, 19 terminals officially closed, while 2 new terminals started up. The active project spending information based on a June 2002 completion date and beyond consists of approximately 185 projects representing $7.5 billion.
In 2002, the growing demand for natural gas and petroleum products continues to increase capital spending for storage cavern and tank farm expansions. In conjunction with terminal expansions and additions, government mandates for API-653 tank inspections continue to force companies into rebuilding older tanks that do not meet these standards.
