Coverage in the Metals & Minerals industry consists of a phone verified database of 5,095 operational steel mills, mines, and other metal producing plants in North America with over 26,000 unique decision making contacts with over 35,000 functional management responsibilities.
Each month, IIR updates plant database information with changes that have taken place, including plant closings or new plant start ups. In 2001, 121 steel mills officially closed, while 88 new plants started up. Active project spending information based on a June 2002 completion date and beyond consists of approximately 837 projects representing $67.6 billion. In the year 2001, IIR’s team of industry specialists reported 774 project reports with a TIV (Total Investment Value) of $36.1 billion. Industry growth segments include cement, coal, and aluminum, while the steel industry still remains depressed.
