Coverage in the Pharmaceutical & Biotech industry consists of a phone verified database of 762 operational plants in North America with over 1,500 unique decision making contacts with over 5,300 functional management responsibilities.
Each month, IIR updates plant database information with changes that have taken place, including plant closings or new plant start ups. In 2001, 30 pharmaceutical & biotech processing plants officially closed, while 18 new plants started up. IIR continues to increase its coverage of this burgeoning sector, with new operational and proposed plants being added to the database weekly. Active project spending information based on a June 2002 completion date and beyond consists of approximately 355 projects representing $19.6 billion. In 2001, IIR’s team of industry specialists identified and confirmed 258 projects with a TIV (Total Investment Value) of $12.7 billion.

IIR’s industry coverage for North American is categorized by a four digit SIC (Standard Industrial Classification) Code, which identifies the primary business of the plant. Beyond the SIC code, IIR has expanded its coverage to include an eight-digit SIC Product Code.
