Nigeria Spends $4.8 Billion on Private Generator Fuel, Looks to Renewables

JOHANNESBURG--October 28, 2014--Written by Richard Finlayson, Senior International Editor for Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The fuel cost of the legendary "blue haze" and "throbbing hum" put out by private generator sets in Nigeria's cities, towns and villages has now been quantified by the country's Community Research and Development Center (CREDC). Godfrey Ogbemudia, the program director for CREDC, said $4.8 billion is spent annually on diesel and gasoline for the private generators.
