Strong Domestic Demand Drives Egyptian Steel's 3.5 Million-Tonne Expansion
JOHANNESBURG--February 13, 2015--Written by Richard Finlayson, Senior International Editor for Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--In hopes of increasing its current 10% share of the domestic market to at least 20%, Egyptian Steel (Cairo, Egypt) plans to open two new plants by mid-2016 and raise overall annual production capacity to 3.5 million tonnes, according to company chairperson Ahmed Abou Hashima. Currently, the company produces 800,000 tonnes annually.
