SUGAR LAND--March 2, 2015--Written by John Egan for Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Following President Obama's veto February 24 of a bill authorizing the start of construction for the Keystone XL Pipeline, congressional Republicans vowed to continue efforts to legislatively mandate the construction of the controversial $8 billion, 1,179-mile crude-oil pipeline project. The odds of Congress overriding a presidential veto are long--it's only happened a few times in the last 50 years--and Republican plans to attach a Keystone XL rider to a piece of "must pass" legislation also appear slim, given the struggle at the end of last week to fund the Department of Homeland Security.
