SUGAR LAND--May 24, 2017--Written by John Egan for Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--A little over a year ago, MidAmerican Energy Company (Des Moines, Iowa) announced its vision of constructing enough renewable energy to meet the equivalent of 100% of the needs of its Iowa retail electric customers. It was a bold play, backed by a massive initiative, Wind XI, which entailed spending about $3.6 billion to construct about 2,000 megawatts (MW) of new wind generation by 2019. Wind XI is the largest economic development investment in Iowa's history.
