Project Timing & Activity

The PEC Report® has three primary timing categories: Planning, Engineering, and Construction (PEC) to indicate the project status at the time of research. These categories, in conjunction with one of the appropriate forty-five numerical and descriptive timing activities, provide a linear method of identifying the project timing. The timing categories P1 through E2 identify capital projects from the early phases of development such as Market Analysis, Site Selection and Preliminary Design through AFE Approval, Planning & Scheduling and Detailed Engineering. The C1 and C2 PEC timing categories are apply to project construction phases and scheduled plant maintenance programs. However, because of the large capital expenditures accruing in the International market place, IIR's International PEC Report® coverage is focused only on those projects qualified for the P1, P2, E1 & E2 phases.

PEC Timing: The Major stages a project undergoes from conception to completion.

Stages are designated as P1, P2, E1, E2, C1, and C2. Each stage is further defined by one of the specific Project Activity functions listed below.
