SUGAR LAND--July 2, 2012--Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Total Chemical Processing Industry (CPI) spending from construction starts during the first and second quarters of the year equaled $5 billion in 2011 and just $4.9 billion in 2012. While spending has remained mostly constant in this comparison, the number of projects jumped sharply during this time frame from 471 in 2011 to an estimated 520 in 2012. This increase in activity means a decrease in the average total investment value (TIV) for each project and generally smaller, less complex individual projects as well.
