SUGAR LAND--March 8, 2013--Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--U.S. domestic steel mills operated at only 76% of their full capability in the first week in 2013. About 1.8 million tons of crude steel was produced, and while that was slightly up, it was down 4.6% from a year ago. Overall, industry production is down about 7% from a year ago for the first five weeks of 2013.
