Williams Delays Start Up of Geismar Ethylene Unit to Install More Safety Measures

SUGAR LAND--August 1, 2014--Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Williams Companies (NYSE:WMB) (Tulsa, Oklahoma) is delaying ethylene production at its expanded and rebuilt Geismar facility in Louisiana by at least another six to eight weeks to address a potential safety issue, company officials said. The energy pipeline and processing company also reported its second-quarter net income fell 27% to $103 million from the same quarter last year, as a result of lower natural gas liquids (NGL) and olefin margins, as well as higher debt interest costs. Industrial Info is tracking 39 Williams projects worth nearly $4 billion, including grassroot, expansion, addition and maintenance items.
