Germany Opens 'Offshore Wind Island'
GALWAY, IRELAND--September 18, 2014 --Written by Martin Lynch, European News Editor for Industrial Info (Galway, Ireland) The German island of Heligoland is fast becoming the hub of German North Sea windfarm development following the official opening of RWE Innogy's service and operating centre.
Uwe Beckmeyer, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State with the German Federal Minister of Economics and Energy officially inaugurated the facility, which will service and maintain the Nordsee Ost windfarm which is currently under construction 30km north of the island.
