SUGAR LAND--October 1, 2014--Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Minnesota's oldest coal-fired power plant likely will shut its doors within the coming year. The Silver Lake Power Station in Rochester is home to four vintage coal-fired units. Unit 1 began generating power just three years after the end of World War II. Personnel at the plant confirmed that they will decommission all four units by the end of 2015.
