U.K. Unveils £17 Billion Grid Upgrade
GALWAY, IRELAND--December 10, 2014 --Written by Martin Lynch, European News Editor for Industrial Info (Galway, Ireland) The U.K.'s electricity grid is in line for a £17 billion ($26.7 billion) makeover according to new plans released by energy regulator, Ofgem.
The regulator has set out plans for five out of the six companies that run Britain's local electricity network, which will see them having to spend £17 billion (£26.5 billion) to renew and maintain the electricity network, as well as connect small-scale renewable generation.
