Europe's Energy Consumption Hits 20-Year Low

GALWAY, IRELAND--February 17, 2015 --Written by Martin Lynch, European News Editor for Industrial Info (Galway, Ireland) Energy consumption in the European Union (E.U.) has hit a 20-year low according to the latest figures from the region's statistical body, Eurostat.

The figures for 2013 show that gross inland energy consumption - including exports - stood at 1,666 million tonnes of oil equivalent (Mtoe), a level not seen since the early 1990s. This is also down 9.1% compared to its peak of 1,832 Mtoe in 2006.
