Germany's Niehl 3 CHP Plant Connects to the Grid
GALWAY, IRELAND--October 13, 2015--Written by Martin Lynch, European News Editor for Industrial Info (Galway, Ireland) A new combined-cycle heat and power (CHP) plant in Cologne, Germany, has been successfully synchronized with the grid for the first time in preparation for full commissioning next spring. The 450-megawatt (MW), gas-fired Niehl 3 plant supplied its first power to the grid last week and is designed to play a key role in Germany's energy transition to cleaner fuels and renewable energy.
