Palmdale Power Plant Project in California Undergoes Change in Ownership, Reconfiguration
SUGAR LAND--January 19, 2016--Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--A decade ago, the Palmdale Power Station (Palmdale, California) was proposed as a 500-megawatt (MW), combined cycle project, with requests for proposals for a turnkey solution that would include permitting, construction and commissioning. Within a year of the initial proposal, the project evolved into a hybrid plant that would bring together combined cycle and solar power components while increasing the plant's proposed output to 570 MW. That proposal remained largely intact until last year, when the California Energy approved a change in ownership of the project, formerly known as the Palmdale Hybrid Power Project (PHPP), from the city of Palmdale, to Palmdale Energy, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Summit Power Group, LLC, based in Seattle, Washington. Within this article: Details the four ways in which the project underwent reconfigurations. Other companies featured: General Electric (NYSE:GE)
