China Fights Cement Surplus with Moratorium

BEIJING--October 26, 2016--Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--China is the largest cement producer in the world, accounting for about 60% of the global total. As per China Cement Association, China's actual cement production capacity reached about 3.5 billion metric tons in 2015; the surplus of production capacity accounted for about 30% of the total demand. About 35 million metric tons of new cement clinker production capacity is expected to be brought online in 2016. However, it is expected that the overall demand in China will continue to fall about 2% per year over the next five years.
