China Further Tightens Controls on Coal-Fired Power Capacity
BEIJING--October 25, 2016--Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Coal is the top power source in China, accounting for about 70% of its total power consumption. However, due to the rapid growth in installed capacity and a weakening demand for power, last year's utilization rate of thermal generation hit its lowest level since 1969. With the risk of surplus coal-fired power growing, the National Energy Administration (NEA) last week issued its fourth notice in seven months on enhancing control over the planning and construction of coal-fired power.
