Mosaic Company Posts Record Earnings from Worldwide Potash Demand, but Foresees a Slower Future
SUGAR LAND--October 6, 2008--Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--On October 2, the Mosaic Company (NYSE:MOS) (Plymouth, Minnesota), one of the world's leading suppliers of potash and phosphate fertilizer products, announced extremely large earnings for the company's first quarter of the 2009 fiscal year, which ended August 31, 2008. Mosaic's net sales for the quarter were $4.3 billion, compared with $2 billion in 1Q08. Net earnings were $1.18 billion, compared with $305.5 million from the same period last year. The current extremely high price of potash is primarily responsible for these figures.
