Kansas City Power Prepares to Release RFPs to Add Environmental Controls at La Cygne Station

SUGAR LAND--May 5, 2008--Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Officials of Kansas City Power and Light (KCPL), a subsidiary of Great Plains Energy Incorporated (NYSE:GXP) (Kansas City, Missouri), said in April that they are preparing the specification for the release a request for proposal (RFP) to build a 700-foot, single dual-flue stack for both of the units at its 1,578-megawatt (MW) coal-fired La Cygne power station. The RFP would also call for the demolition of the existing single stacks that are attached to the facilities two units.
