China's First-Quarter Decline in New Power Capacity Attributed to Severe Snowstorms

BEIJING--May 8, 2008--Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--In the first quarter of 2008, China installed 12.64 gigawatts (GW) of power, a decrease of about 600 megawatts (MW) compared with the same period last year, according to a China Electricity Council report released at the end of April. The decrease is attributed to the severe snowstorms that impacted southern China in the quarter.
