SUGAR LAND--June 25, 2008--Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Simpson Tacoma Kraft Company LLC, a subsidiary of Simpson Investment Company (Tacoma, Washington), has begun construction on a project to produce renewable energy at its pulp and paper mill in Tacoma, Washington. Simpson's $100 million investment will utilize cogeneration technology to generate about 55 megawatts of electricity based on black liquor from the pulping process and wood residuals. Upgrades to the mill's existing boilers are under way, and the installation of a used Dresser-Rand Group Incorporated (NYSE:DRC) (Houston, Texas) steam turbine generator will begin this September.
