SUGAR LAND--August 4, 2008--Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Resource-rich Canada is exploding with industrial project activity. Industrial Info is tracking 1,664 projects that are scheduled to begin construction in 2008 or beyond. These projects will require an astonishing $386 billion to engineer, equip and construct. A prime example of the type of projects in Canada's oil patch that have started up construction this year is the massive Voyageur Project being developed by Suncor Energy Incoporated (NYSE:SU) (Calgary, Alberta). Another hot industry for Canada this year is Metals & Minerals. Rio Tinto (NYSE:RTP) (London), for example, has redirected growth plans and resources from projects in the Middle East and Africa to focus on expansions of aluminum smelters in British Columbia and Quebec. New mines are being developed also. Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan Incorporated (TSX:POT) (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) has begun site preparation for a $1 billion expansion of the Cory potash mine.
