Southridge Enterprises Progressing with Construction on El Salvador Ethanol Plant with Additional Plans for U.S. Plants

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Investor-owned Southridge Enterprises Incorporated (OTC:SRDG) (Dallas, Texas) is progressing with construction on a new ethanol production facility in San Salvador, El Salvador. The estimated $10 million facility is being built in two phases. The first phase involves the construction of a 15 million-gallon-per-year ethanol dehydration system that will process ethanol into hydrous ethanol. Hydrous ethanol is 95% ethanol mixed with in gasoline.

The dehydration system is expected to process 15 million gallons per year of ethanol for export to the U.S. Phase II involves the construction of a complete plant that will process bagasse material, a fibrous material left over from sugar cane production, into 5 million gallons per year of ethanol.

Construction on Phase I began in April and Phase II began around July. The company has indicated that construction is ahead of schedule and that the plant is expected to be operational by March 2009.

Southridge is also looking at building additional plants in Mississippi and Texas. The company plans to build a 60 million-gallon-per-year plant in an existing 67,000-square-foot building in Marks, Mississippi, and has an option on land in the Dallas area to develop a 50 million-gallon-per-year plant.
