Oil and Chemical Giant Sasol Brings in Record Profits for 2008

SUGAR LAND--September 10, 2008--Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--On September 8, South African energy and chemical giant Sasol Limited (NYSE:SSL) (Johannesburg) released its financial report for the 2008 fiscal year, which ended June 30. The company, as a whole, made record profits for the year. Operating profits were up 32% from last year, reaching $4.3 billion. This significant increase was, in large part, because of the increased price of crude oil, which Chief Financial Officer Christine Ramon noted had increased an average of 49% year on year. High coal prices also helped raise Sasol's profits. Industrial Info is currently tracking $5.4 billion of Sasol's active projects throughout the world.
