Dow Chemical Sheds More Assets, Sells Texas Plant to Arkema
SUGAR LAND--August 5, 2009--Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The Dow Chemical Company (NYSE:DOW) (Midland, Michigan) has announced plans to sell the acrylic acid and esters plant in Clear Lake, Texas, which it acquired from Rohm & Haas (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) earlier this year, to Arkema (Paris, France) for an estimated $50 million. This sale is expected to be the first of several similar divestures in the coming months as part of plans to shed several non-core businesses, under mandate by the Federal Trade Commission.
