Boeing May Use 787 Dreamliner Program as Stick in Ongoing Fight with Union

SUGAR LAND--August 13, 2009--Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Less than a year ago, The Boeing Company (NYSE:BA) (Chicago, Illinois) agreed to a new contract with the International Association of Machinists Union (IAM) (Upper Marlboro, Maryland) after a two-month strike that affected Boeing's 787 Dreamliner program. Although the ink is barely dry on that agreement, Boeing and the union are once again wrangling about potential terms of the next contract. In an attempt to force the union back to the bargaining table, Boeing is hinting that they will take the second production line for the Dreamliner project, which Boeing is considering constructing, to a right-to-work state in order to not have to deal with IAM in the future.
