Hellenic Petroleum's Aspropyrgos Refinery Resuming Operations

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Hellenic Petroleum SA (ATH:ELPE) (Athens, Greece), resumed operations of the 135,000-barrel-per-day (BBL/d) Aspropyrgos refinery on October 25, after a major shutdown. The refinery is located about 13 miles west of Athens.

The scheduled shutdown began September 12 and lasted 44 non-production days. Units such as the 85,000-BBL/d Crude 1 unit, the 52,000-BBL/d Crude/Vacuum Unit 2, the 27,000-BBL/d continuous catalytic converter unit, and the 10,100-BBL/d total isomerisation unit are currently back online. The 45,700-BBL/d fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) unit suffered a delay in the restart of the blower. This affected the normal start of the FCC pre-treater and gas concentration unit. These were expected to be back online by Friday, October 30.
