Nextera Energy Starts Commercial Operation of Stateline Energy Center Phase II

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Nextera Energy Resouces LLC (Juno Beach, Florida), a subsidiary of FPL Group (NYSE:FPL) (Juno Beach), has completed construction and commenced commercial operation of the 99-MW Phase II of the Stateline Energy Oregon Windfarm.

Construction of the project began in May 2009 and was completed late November. Nextera Energy commenced full commercial operation of the facility last week. The $200 million project consisted of erecting 43 structural steel towers, each outfitted with 2.3-MW Siemens SWT-2.3 Wind Turbine Generator Sets, which brings the generation capacity of this facility to 182 MW.

D.H. Blattner (Avon, Minisotta) was selected to provide turnkey engineering, procurement and construction services for the project. Currently, Oregon hosts 1,754 MW of wind generation, with approximately 3,200 MW of generation in various stages of construction, engineering and development with an estimated cost of more than 17 billion dollars.
