Carbon Capture Project for Scottish Gas-Fired Plant

GALWAY, IRELAND--July 12, 2010--Written by Martin Lynch, European News Editor for Industrial Info (Galway, Ireland)--Scottish and Southern Energy plc (OTC:SSEZY) (SSE) (Perth, Scotland) has announced plans to begin a large carbon capture and storage (CCS) demonstration project at the gas-fired power station in Peterhead, Aberdeenshire. The project will demonstrate the post-combustion capture of carbon dioxide emissions from the equivalent of 400 megawatts of electrical output. It will use an existing gas turbine, an existing steam turbine, an existing electricity network connection and land adjacent to the power station that is owned by SSE.
