Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Mamtek U.S. (Moberly, Missouri), an affiliate of Mamtek International (Fujan, China), plans to begin site preparation in the coming weeks for the construction of a 100,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art manufacturing plant that will produce sucralose, a sugar substitute.

The Marmtek facility is being built in Randolph County near Moberly, Missouri, and represents a $46 million investment. Martek's operating plan calls for initial production capacity of 300,000 kilos per year and will grow in a few years to between 1.2 million and 1.5 million kilograms annually.

Septagon Construction Company (Columbia, Missouri) is the general contractor of record and will utilize local and regional subcontractors to complete the building phase. Mamtek plans to have the facility fully operational in the first quarter of next year.

The Moberly facility will be one of only three facilities in the world capable of producing large, reliable quantities of the high-intensity sweetener and will also produce 100% pharmaceutical-grade sucralose.
