CPIC's 1,200-Megawatt Yanshanhu Power Plant Begins Full Operation
The second unit (Unit 1) of China Power Investment Yanshanhu Power Generation Company Limited's (Chaoyang, Liaoning) Yanshanhu Power Plant finally passed the 168-hour full-load continuous trial operation.

Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--Following the successful commissioning of the first unit (Unit 2) on December 13, 2011, the second unit (Unit 1) of China Power Investment Yanshanhu Power Generation Company Limited's (Chaoyang, Liaoning) Yanshanhu Power Plant finally passed the 168-hour full-load continuous trial operation and was handed over to the project owner on March 21. This marks that the infrastructure construction for Phase I of Yanshanhu Power Plant has been fully completed and that the project has been put into commercial operation, China Power Investment Corporation (CPIC) (Beijing) announced on March 26.
The Yanshanhu Power Plant is located at Xidaying Town in the Longcheng District of Chaoyang City, in the Liaoning province. This is the largest power project invested by China Power Investment Corporation in northeast China. The plant will use the rich coal resources from the Baiyinhua coal mine in eastern Inner Mongolia. The power plant has a total planned capacity of 2,400 megawatts (MW) that will be built in phases. Of which, Phase I is furnished with two 600-MW supercritical direct air-cooled coal-fired units. The project received final approval from the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) on June 24, 2009. Construction of the project was officially kicked off on August 20, 2009. The North China Power Engineering Corporation Limited of China Power Engineering Consulting Corporation (Beijing) is responsible for the design and engineering of the project.
As reported, Unit 1 of the project began operating on October 11, 2011, and achieved the first grid connection on October 13, 2011. The 168-hour trial operation of Unit 1 was started on March 14, 2011. During the trial operation, various operation parameters and economic and technical indicators were at excellent levels.
Chen Jianguo, the deputy general manager of CPIC Northeast Company, Wu Yongcun, the vice mayor of Chaoyang City, and other leaders and representatives attended the hand-over ceremony.
