Construction Begins at Nebraska's Crofton Bluffs Windfarm

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas--Edison Mission Group (EMG), a subsidiary of Edison International (NYSE:EIX) (Rosemead, California), has begun construction on the 42-megawatt (MW) Crofton Bluffs Windfarm project in Nebraska.

Crofton Bluffs is the fourth EMG project in Nebraska. The company negotiated with Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) for a 20-year power purchase agreement, meaning that all electrical energy produced will be sold to NPPD.

The project is located in Crofton and Bloomfield townships, both in Knox County. EMG has three operating wind power facilities in Nebraska, which includes the Elkhorn Ridge windfarm, the Laredo windfarm and the Broken Bow windfarm. The Elkhorn Ridge windfarm, which began commercial operations in early 2009, is directly adjacent to the Crofton Bluffs windfarm .

Crofton Bluffs will consist of 20 Vestas 1.8-MW and 2 Vestas 3-MW wind turbine-generator sets. Crofton Bluffs is scheduled to be completed before the end of 2012. The facility will provide revenue to the state and local government through taxes and to local residents through lease options and employment opportunities. Once completed, the Elkhorn Ridge windfarm's plant manager and staff will absorb the day to day operations of the Crofton Bluffs wind facility.
