Reported by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas). Finally some good news for Oswego County and folks residing in Fulton, New York. Industry is coming back led by ethanol production, C02 gas making and animal feed manufacturing. Over the past decades, Oswego County has seen manufacturing vacate the region, paper mills have closed, starch plants have gone bankrupt, metals manufacturing plants have shut their doors, chocolate makers have left town, and back in 1994, Miller Brewing devastated locals when the announcement was made the brewer was also pulling out.
Feeding off the fermentation portion of the ethanol plant will be leading industrial gases producer BOC Group Inc (Murray Hill, New Jersey), which plans to construct a $15 million C02 (carbon dioxide) plant to process off-gas from the fermentation process. BOC is in talks with Salof Refrigeration (New Braunfels, Texas) and Toromont Energy Systems (Houston, Texas) to design and build the plant. Construction is scheduled to get underway in January of 2007 and take six moths to complete.
A third project planned by Venture Milling, Incorporated, a subsidiary of Perdue Farms Incorporated (Salisbury, Maryland), is a grassroot feed mill that will convert dried distillers grains, a by-product of ethanol production, into about 3,000 tons per of chicken feed for the poultry processor. Construction is expected to get underway soon after the ethanol plant starts construction next month.
All in all, these projects are great news for Fultons local economy, area employment and tax base. The complex will also aid in helping the area have greater access to fuel ethanol that has been mainly shipped into New York from the Midwest.
Governor George E. Pataki adds, This is a perfect example of business, labor and government pooling their resources and expertise to capitalize on an economic opportunity which will pay environmental and economic dividends for decades to come.
