Economist: Amid Strong U.S. Economy, Risks of Recession Growing

SUGAR LAND, TEXAS--August 22, 2018--Written by John Egan for Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--There's a 40% or greater chance that the U.S. will fall into a recession by 2020, an economist told an Oil & Gas conference in Denver August 20. In an address at The Oil & Gas Conference 23, sponsored by EnerCom Incorporated (Denver, Colorado), Michael Carey, Credit Agricole's (Montrouge, France) North America chief economist, listed three reasons for his view: the fiscal stimulus enacted in the first year of the Trump administration will have run out, Federal Reserve officials will make a monetary policy mistake and the threat of tariffs.
