Mining giant Glencore announced Wednesday that it will cap coal production at around current levels as part of its commitment to transition to a low-carbon economy. The company produced 129.4 million metric tons of coal in 2018. Glencore operates 24 coal mines on three continents and is developing half a billion dollars' worth of coal mining projects, including several grassroot mines in Australia and South Africa, according to Industrial Info's Global Market Intelligence Platform.
