Germany Considers Carbon Tax to Meet 2030 Climate Goals, an Industrial Info Market Brief
Germany is focusing on meeting the country's climate goal of reducing greenhouse emissions by 55% by 2030. The country is considering putting a price on carbon through a tax on emissions or through expanding the European Union (EU) emissions trading system (ETS) to all sectors. The EU's ETS puts an overall limit for all energy-intensive industries such as steel and iron works, aluminum, cement and glass production. By the end of this year, Germany will decide whether to introduce carbon pricing.
