Italy is expected to see a boost in renewable energy production investment after the European Commission has agreed on a support scheme to help the country reach its energy goals. The scheme will be applicable until 2021.
IIR is tracking $57 billion in spending for renewable energy projects in Southern Europe, with Spain investing $14 billion and Italy investing $9.2 billion. Nearly $24 billion is earmarked for windfarms across Southern Europe, along with $19 billion hydropower projects, and $11.8 billion on solar projects.
