Talcher Fertilizers Limited has awarded a lump sum turnkey (LSTK) contract to China-based Wuhuan Engineering for the restart of mothballed ammonia and urea units at its Talcher, Odisha, site in India. The 1.45 million-ton-per year urea unit and 990,000-ton-per-year ammonia unit are expected to start operations in mid-2022. With its agriculture-based economy, India has begun to invest in nitrogenous fertilizer capacity projects to meet demand.
