US Methanol Places West Virginia Project on Hold, an Industrial Info Market Brief

US Methanol Places West Virginia Project on Hold, an Industrial Info Market Brief

Attachment: methanol on hold

US Methanol recently placed its 150,000-metric-ton-per-year methanol plant, known as LibertyTwo, on hold. The plans were to relocate an idled plant from Slovenia to a site in New Martinsville, West Virginia, but now the owners are starting to re-evaluate the potential restart of the plant in Slovenia, instead of relocation. The US Methanol plant is just one of 18 methanol projects that have been placed on hold in the U.S., accounting for almost $16 billion in spending. There is still some optimism in the future of the market, as these projects are still being considered and not officially cancelled.
