First U.S. LNG Shipment to China in a Year on its Way, an Industrial Info Market Brief

First U.S. LNG Shipment to China in a Year on its Way, an Industrial Info Market Brief

A liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanker, which loaded a cargo from the Cameron LNG export terminal in the U.S., is heading to China. This is the first U.S.-to-China LNG shipment since March 2019. The tanker SK Resolute loaded the cargo from the Cameron LNG terminal near Lake Charles, Louisiana, on March 22 and was originally headed to Cristobal, Panama, a port on the Atlantic side of the Panama Canal. The tanker changed its destination to the Chinese port of Tianjin on March 28, and is expected to arrive there on April 28. The shipment would be the first since China raised tariffs on U.S. LNG imports to 25% last year as part of the U.S.-China trade war.
