Coal Generation Continues to Fall in Europe, an Industrial Info Market Brief

According to recent reports, the use of coal as fuel for generating power fell 24% last year across the EU countries. Austria and Sweden have closed their last coal-fired plants this year. Germany plans to eliminate coal as a fuel by 2038, and the U.K. has declared its intent to do the same in the next four years. There still are 305 coal-fired power plants in Europe, excluding Russia, with Germany and Poland in the lead.
