According to a report by the Indian Ports Association (IPA), 12 major Indian ports saw a dip in cargo handling due to COVID-19. The initial lockdown in the country affected demand for goods and products, which in turn reduced the movement of cargo containers through all major ports. The IPA expects the numbers to rebound in the 2021-22 fiscal year after the gradual easing of the lockdown.
