Mangalore Refinery & Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) is planning to construct an ethanol production unit at its 300,000-BBL/d Mangalore Refinery in India. This production facility will produce 60 kiloliters per day of second-generation (2G) ethanol by using biomass gasification and gas fermentation technology.

The project is in its initial stage and is expected to be operational by the end of 2023.
