Cargo Volume at Major Indian Ports Drops 22% in April-May 2020, an Industrial Info Market Brief
India's 12 major ports handled 92.82 million tons of cargo during the first two months of the ongoing fiscal year, which meant a decrease of 22% amid the coronavirus lockdown when compared with the same period in 2019, when 119.23 million tons were registered, according to a report from the Indian Ports Association. Container trade was severely hit as it recorded a decline of 36.33% in terms of twenty-foot equivalent units, followed by a 35.94% fall in thermal coal.
