Indonesia's Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, through PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara Persero (PT PLN), is ready to conduct geothermal exploration and government-sponsored drilling. This will be carried out in the Cisolok-Cisukarame area, Sukabumi, West Java.
The program is a follow-up to government drilling efforts aimed at reducing the financial risk of geothermal exploration. This is one of the schemes to attract more investors, as the government has taken over the risk factor, thereby reducing the price of geothermal electricity. Currently, permit arrangements and infrastructure preparations are being processed, and the drilling is planned to be carried out by mid-2021.
