Georgia Pacific to Lay Off 700 at Louisiana Mill, an Industrial Info Market Brief

Georgia-Pacific will exit the communication papers business and lay off nearly 700 people at its mill in Port Hudson, Louisiana. The company will shut down pulp production and communication paper machines, related converting assets, as well as the woodyard and a significant portion of the energy complex. Georgia-Pacific will continue to operate and invest in the mill to support its growing consumer tissue and towel business.
