Russia to Invest in Its Coal Industry, an Industrial Info Market Brief

The minister of the Russian coal industry has been tasked to update the Coal Industry Development Program in order to increase profitability. Russia's traditional mining areas of Kuzbass, Khakassia and Yakutia, along with the more recently developed areas of Eastern Siberia, need improved logistics and safety in order to increase profitability and expand exports.

In 2018, Russia's domestic companies exported more than 190 million metric tons of coal. This makes Russia the world's third-largest coal exporter.
